It's over six hours long, but "Generation Kill" is worth the watch if you're in the mood for a great HBO miniseries. The show features Marines experiencing life during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The series was nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and Outstanding Writing in a Miniseries or Movie for David Simon who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother, Ed Burns. "Generations Kill" is also known as "Generation Kill: A Story of U.S Marines in Iraq". "Generation Kill" follows the exploits of the First Recon Battalion, which served in Iraq in 2003, and was based in Anbar province. The Marines featured in the miniseries are portrayed by several notable actors. They include Michael Shannon who stars as Capt. "The Iceman" Scott Miller, Josh Lucas as LtCol. Dan Trombley, Donnie Wahlberg as Capt Chris Roach and Pablo Schreiber as Sgt. Jay Malinowski. I was not expecting to like this miniseries so much after seeing all the hype about it on TV and movies about war movies social network sites etc... But I was surprised how much I liked it and how it made me think about the war and the politics behind it. This is a great show and i recommend everyone see it.
